At Marrow, we’ve always dreamed of being able to pay the talented writers who contribute their work to our magazine. We know this is a priority for many of you as well. Currently, all expenses for running the site are paid out of pocket by the editors, which has limited our ability to compensate our contributors, even though it’s something we really, really want to do.
Now, with your help, we’re taking steps to change that!
We’re thrilled to announce that Marrow is expanding with print issue capabilities through Draft2Digital. This will allow us to publish print issues and anthologies of our contributors’ work, along with some exclusive, print-only content such as interviews and special features. These print issues will be available for purchase online, helping us to broaden our reach and breathe new life into the incredible work shared by our writers.
Even better, through Draft2Digital, we can set up contributors to receive royalties. For every issue sold, 50% of the proceeds will go directly to the writers, divided equally among contributors, while 50% will support Marrow’s ongoing operations. This means that the more we sell, the more our writers earn.
Additionally, we’re introducing a “tip jar” on our site. This feature provides an easy way for anyone to contribute to Marrow and help cover the costs of keeping the magazine running. There’s no obligation to donate, but for those who feel inclined to support, it’s a simple and meaningful way to help us continue publishing the work we love.
We’re excited about these new developments and hopeful that this will be the first step toward fairly compensating the creators who make Marrow what it is.
Thanks for being our spooky friends and for being here with us.
