Both paintings are from my series called Celestial Movements.
‘Dreamy Night’ is an oil painting that depicts a scene of beauty within another realm of perception. An outer-worldly landscape in which aesthetical components bind together to create a recognizable and relatable environment. In all my work an emphasis on beauty, harmony, and a balance of compositional structure is key. ‘Dreamy Night’ is part of a landscape series I was working on in 2014 and 2015, and my style has evolved and changed since then.
The painting ‘A Flowing Junction,’ allows the viewer to be transported into an abstract realm of perception as if taken into another dimension. The painting shows linear depth and motion of a flowing assortment of shapes and colors, celestial bodies along with aesthetical components present in the series of artworks. What I call bulbs, linear depth and planes, are organized in a manner that binds for an abstracted interstellar essence. The techniques I used in the process of paintings are important and have been developed over the years, whereas I would like for each painting to be a predecessor to the next, and I consider my artistic practice to be in a constant state of development, both in terms of technique and concept. I also consider my art practice to be therapeutic as engaging in the creation of art has proved to be beneficial to physical, mental, and spiritual health.
Julian Baslyk
Julian Baslyk is an artist from Montreal, Canada. He has a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Concordia University and has exhibited his paintings, drawings, and prints in and around Montreal. He has taken part in art publications both online and in physical form. He is also a writer and considers his visual art and creative writing to correlate and have synergy.
